Ivan Glasenberg, CEO of Glencore International plc has a net-worth of $6.3 billion. Glasenberg began his career in Glencore in 1984 when he worked in the coal division in South Africa and Australia. Glasenberg then was promoted to manage the company’s Hong Kong and Beijing offices, where he had the responsibility of overseeing the Asian coal business and managing administrative functions. He was promoted to head the coal department in 1991 and assumed responsibility for Glencore’s global coal business. This included marketing as well as industrial assets. Glasenberg has a BA in Accounting from the University of the Witwatersand in South Africa as well as an MA in Business Administration at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He has also been a race-walker champion for South Africa and Israel. In his personal life, he has two children and is currently living in the Swiss village of Ruschlikon.
